Bitumen membranes with 3D pattern on a roof in Japan

09/10/2013

After becoming more and more popular in Eastern Europe Icopal Rolled Tiles with 3D effect made their way to Japan to start conquering the Asian market.

When Toru Hashida from Icopal Japan spotted an opportunity for bitumen membranes with 3D design as an alternative for shingles in the Japanese market he asked for some product samples and made a presentation of the new solution to local construction companies. Soon the product was recommended for a private project on JGM Kuwamizubashi apartment building. The roof had been covered with shingles but it needed some renovation and the investor was looking for a low-price, light and nice-looking waterproofing solution. He got interested in 3D Grey membrane as it met all his requirements.

The first project being completed (see the video from the job site), Toru Hashida can see further potential in the Japanese market, especially in the renovation of rental apartments. We hope for more 3D membrane stories from Japan soon!
