Icopal today announced plans to acquire 100% of the Wolfin activities from Henkel AG & Co. KGaA in Germany. The relevant purchase agreement has been signed by both parties; the transaction is still subject to approval from the German competition authorities and the completion is expected to take place by the end of May. Wolfin is one of the leaders in the high quality synthetic membrane market in Germany and sells premium products under the brand names of Wolfin, Tectofin and Cosmofin. Wolfin, which is based in Wächtersbach, Germany, has been established nearly 50 years ago and has supplied material to cover more than 60mill square meters of roof in all climatic zones of the world. For more information about Wolfin, see www.wolfin.com.
Miguel Kohlmann, CEO of the Icopal Group, made the following statement regarding this acquisition: “Wolfin is one of Europe’s quality leaders in synthetic waterproofing. It has a long tradition of innovation with a constant focus on the development of customer needs. It is a fantastic brand and has a great team. The acquisition will allow Icopal to grow fast in the high quality synthetic roofing segment, a relatively young area in our group which we entered in the year 2008 with the acquisition of Van Besouw Kunststoffen, now Icopal Synthetic Membranes. There are enormous synergies between synthetic roofing membranes and our traditional roofing materials.”
