Icopal is committed to the idea of sustainable construction, “green” products and solutions that help address the environmental challenges. One of the areas where eco approach develops is the reduction of CO2, both in sustainable products and solutions as well as overall production process adaptations.
Icopal NL is the first roofing membrane manufacturer in the Netherlands to be certified for achievements in CO2 reduction. The certificate was issued by Kiwa, an independent certification company, and is valid for three years.
The company is a forerunner in the field of sustainability and it has set a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 5 -6 k tonnes within 3 years. To achieve this, there have been developed various CO2 reduction activities in the production site, but also in partnership within the building industry and universities. These activities vary from switching to “green” power, insulating the boiler rooms to recycling roofing membranes.
Project leader Wouter-Jan van den Berg outlines the importance of this certification. “Besides the fact that this project fits our sustainability philosophy, it is also very important for our customers. More and more companies require that we show our CO2 reduction achievements.” This certification undoubtedly supports our strive to be the recognised leader within environmental solutions.
