Icopal works and acts to:
-Operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and other regulatory requirements (as a minimum) - if this is not happening in a given area, then to inform authorities immediately and to take corrective steps to permit compliance
-Incorporate the environmental impacts of current and future operations within Icopal decisions-making processes
-Promote the efficient use of materials and resources in all Icopal operations including water, gas, electricity and raw materials
-Continuously work on reducing pollution to soil, air and water and ensuring that all Icopal operations do not cause ore serious harm to neighbours than is normal in industrial areas
-Reduce waste through re-use, recycling or purchasing of recycled or recyclable products and materials where such alternatives are available, suitable and economically viable
-Train, educate and promote environmental awareness and solutions to employees, suppliers, customers and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner
-Consider the environmental behaviour of suppliers in the supplier selection process
-Periodically review, both at Group and subsidiary level, our environmental policy, targets and actions
Approximately one-third of the local Icopal subsidiaries are certified according to ISO 14001 (Environment).
